57 - 11th - The bridge

Originally clicked and uploaded by - Pratosh Dwivedi - 11th Feb'08

I went for a loooong drive on ECR (East coast road) when I crossed the boating club on the way to Mahabalipuram. The bridge running over the shallow lake was giving a spectacular view of the small but a beautiful place where people flock in the evening to enjoy boating.

Though the bridge was narrow (2 laned) I managed to park my bike and take some shots. This is the best one I got.

"When the golden yellow sky is trying to sleep in the wide shiny waterbed, your mind and eyes caught it."

Really an admirable picture!

The bridge is eating up the foreground of the image. Background had to be given more importance.

The bridge is the subject of the photograph, hence it is given importance. I am sure the blog owner has taken a number of photographs with the sunset and water bodies as subjects, should the same subject dominate all the photographs?

Man.... what utter soppy crap "water bed" eeeyeew what terrible waste of the so called poetic license.Attempted creativity but destructive description.
But Pratosh lovely pic the sky looks lovely. Keep up the good work.

The subject should be the one thats the most eye catching or the most obscure or the one thats unique in the frame the bridges neither
but the sky and the lake look amazing. So the bridges nothing but a nuisance in the pic now if i was an architect or a student of the the subject i dunno may be i would have said "hey p whats this expanse behind, spoiling the beautiful and brick and mortar fascinating construct" but i am neither nor am I a biased admirer so sir the pic would have been lovely but for the architectural effort there .

People, just try to think beyond the conventional. I was trying to take this photo by not keeping the subject as the center point in the image. I read this photography technique somewhere and was trying to put it into practice. Such images do look meaningless at the first look. As Ms Rubeena told, the subject may seem like a nuisance. When i saw such photos in a magazine, I felt the same. But please try to understand that is just a different genre.

I didnt want to give much importance to the bridge, but still I wanted to keep it into the frame. Given the space constraints of the place where I was standing, this is the best I could get. Since almost everyone is able to see the backdrop as the major object in the image, i think i was successful in doing what i intended to.

I will def try improving with this particular genre, cauz i agree that the picture didnt come up as perfect as intended. But those are entirely my own parameters :)

I will try go give the links for some similar photos I saw at a photo-forum. Maybe that will help you to be more clear with what i actually wanted to do here.
