Very beautiful photo. Many people do NOT know how much the picture doesn't show about the pyramid buried under the church which can be partially seen by going thru tunnels. And, the volcano is Popo, which active, at least I think it is Popo.
You are absolutely right Stephen. The pyramid below is a completely different picture .. The volcano is Popocatepetl ... or "popo" in short .. I have many photos of this volcano on my blog :)
I believe the pyramid buried under the church is one of the largest in the world. Also, we just spent about a week under the shadow of Popi in a dental clinic at Tochimilco. And, yes, the snow on the volcano made it very cold a few nights even though we were in Mexico!
Yup, it is the largest Pyramid in the world "by volume" :)
This year was an exception for the Popo to have so much of snow ... it is pretty common to see it's peak covered in snow, but rare to see half of it in white :)
I created this blog to attend to one of my biggest passions - photography. I am not a pro nor do I have any photography experience worth mentioning. The images i will be putting here on the blog, will be the ones which caught my eye and in some way my mind too. The image will tell you what my eyes noticed and the text scribbled below it will tell you about the mind. This blog will have one image, originally clicked and uploaded by me - daily (hopefully)- starting 17th Dec'07 till the day I die .
