I am not sure if they grow this way but I have never seen more than one flower on a single plant. In the nurseries, on the road-sides and everywhere else where they sell it, they are always one flower per plant.
I took this photo in Atlixco a week back when I went for my plant shopping. I wanted to buy them but given their short life and the fact that a new flower might not come up ever after the old one dies, I changed my mind.
